Sunderland vs Norwich Betting Preview
Sunderland and Norwich face each other this Sunday with both teams needing a win to break away from the relegation battle below them. Norwich sit just one place above Sunderland, and a win for the home side would draw the teams level on 33 points. Sunday's game will be particularly key to Sunderland's hopes of survival with games against Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton to follow. A win for Norwich could put them 12 points above the relegation zone and all but safe.
Sunderland's Recent Results:
QPR 3-1 Sunderland (Fletcher) Sunderland 2-2 Fulham (Gardner (pen), Sessegnon) West Brom 2-1 Sunderland (Sessegnon) Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal
Sunderland have failed to win any of their last six games and now face the possibility of being dragged into the relegation battle. A 3-1 loss to bottom side QPR top the list of their recent defeats that include losses at West Brom and Reading and a home defeat to Arsenal.
With a tough set of fixtures to end the season they'll be hoping to return to winning ways on Sunday, easing the minds of the supporters in the process. Despite scoring goals it has been their defensive frailty that has cost them points having thrown away the lead against QPR last weekend and going 2-0 down to Fulham at the beginning of the month.
Steven Fletcher has been Sunderland's star performer this season, bagging a total of 11 goals in the league, more than double the total of any other player at the club. Sessegnon and Gardner have scored 5 apiece from midfield, and between the three of them they have scored all of Sunderland's last 9 goals. Fletcher is best priced at 11/2 to score the first goal of the game with Coral.
Norwich's Recent Results:
Norwich 0-0 Southampton Manchester United 4-0 Norwich Norwich 2-1 Everton (Kamara, Holt) Norwich 0-0 Fulham
Norwich have won just one game in the league since 15 December dragging them closer to the bottom three. Draws have kept Norwich from sliding further, with a total of five draws from their last eight matches, four of them goalless.
Whilst Sunderland have struggled to keep a clean sheet, Norwich have failed to find the net, scoring just three times in eight matches. Grant Holt summed up their inability to find the net, missing a last minute penalty at home to Southampton last weekend.
Norwich's new loan signing Kei Kamara scored his first goal for the club in their win over Everton and will need to find the net a few more times before the season finishes if Norwich are going to safely stay in the mid table. Kamara is best priced to score his second on Sunday at 7/2 with Bet Victor .
In the head-to-head record between the two clubs the home side has come on top on 23 occasions, 55% of the time. Sunderland have won 10 home meetings against Norwich, although Norwich have won 6 at the Stadium of Light, double the amount of games Sunderland have won at Carrow Road.
With Norwich's solid defence cancelling out Sunderland's attack, it wouldn't be a surprise if this game was low scoring, decided by one goal here or there. Bet Victor price under 1.5 goals at 13/ 5 and are also best priced for a 0-0 draw at 11/1.
Sunderland haven't lost to Norwich at home since 1997 and should be able to rally with a strong performance in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Sunderland are 11/10 favourites to win with many bookmakers.
Match Prediction: Sunderland 1-0 Norwich - Best priced at 15/2 with Bet Victor.
